Looking beyond the title, this site offers a wide variety of anti-racism statements, visual flow charts, resource books. And, listed at the end are further reading on race - articles and books."

Adam Rosenkranz, Arts & Humanities Librarian, on why he recommends this resource: "The "Freedom Now Suite," from 1960, by the great drummer Max Roach, is often considered a milestone in jazz history, both because of the range of musical styles it includes and as an overt statement about civil rights, with the original cover showing some of the musicians in a photograph of a scene understood understood to be a lunch counter sit-in. This suite's themes include slavery, apartheid, and pan-Africanism. I choose the album in part because I think it is great music with a powerful message, but also because and it I share a personal history; it was released eight months before I was born and includes many of the musicians, from the more traditional to the avant-garde, that I came to love: singer Abbey Lincoln, bass clarinetist Eric Dolphy, trumpeter Booker Little, trombonist Julian Priester, and most interestingly, Coleman Hawkins, the founding-father of the jazz tenor saxophone whose recorded music starts in the 1920s. I was also lucky to see a performance by Max Roach and Abbey Lincoln at New York's Symphony Space on the twentieth anniversary of the album's release of what for me is the centerpiece and masterpiece of the suite: "Triptych (Prayer, Peace, and Protest)" -- a tour de force three part movement mini-suite within the suite,-- just Max Roach's drums and Abbey Lincoln's urgent wordless vocals expressing sadness, spirituality and anger, transcending everyday language."

Her world of The Stillness in the Broken World books holds dozens (hundreds?) of three-dimensional charters who evolve lead complex interior (and exterior) lives in this post-apocalyptic future. Even if the universe is not recognizable, the humans are. If you haven't read any Afro-Futurism yet, it's a great time to dip into a world of alternate histories and imagined possibilities."
