"Read and Publish" Agreements

A "Read and Publish" agreement is an agreement that bundles journal subscriptions and APCs, allowing university researchers to publish Open Access articles in hybrid or full open-access journals using prepaid APCs. They are intended to be transitional, making it easier for publishers to move from a subscription to an OA model.

The Claremont Colleges, as members of the Statewide California Electronic Library Consortium (SCELC), are part of several read-and-publish agreement that allow Claremont - affiliated authors to publish their articles Open Access in the journals listed below at no cost to you the Author. These agreements are negotiated at the Consortium level for SCELC Libraries. They only cover journal articles, not monographs.

In other terms, this agreement covers the Article Processing Charges (APCs) for Claremont authors whose research articles are accepted for publication in applicable the journals during the specific agreements.
