E-books: EBSCOhost

This is your guide to electronic formats, digital rights, and downloading library e-books for use on the go.

1. Creating EBSCOhost account

An EBSCOhost account allows you to download e-books as well as to manage your content and preferences online. To create a free account with EBSCOhost click on the "Sign In" link from any EBSCO database and "Create a new account":

Once the account has been created, select “Sign in” (in the top right corner of the screen) and enter your login information.

Now you are ready to start.

2. Downloading an e-book from EBSCOhost

Sign in with your EBSCO account. Directly from the Search screen, select Download (Offline). If you were not signed in, at that point the system will prompt you to do so.

Select the checkout period - 1 to 7 days - and click on "Checkout & Download".

The book is now available in your Chechouts folder.

Adobe Digital Editions is required to view this downloaded file. If you have already the software installed on your computer, the book should now automatically open.

If you still need to install ADE, you can either follow the link from the screen at the time of the download or do this now from here.

You can access your Checkouts folder at any time from the top right menu:

Once in Adobe Digital Ediions, the book can be transferred to a number of portable reading devices like e-book readers, tablets or phones, as long as they support Adobe DRM.
