Librarians

There are several librarians you may want to work with as you do research on Shakespeare and his plays.

Gale Burrow is the librarian for British and American literature.

Holly Gardinier is the Performing Arts Librarian. She works with music, dance, and theatre.

Meg Garrett is the Media Studies Librarian.

Carrie Marsh, Special Collections Librarian, can help you find and use materials in the Libraries' special collections.

For librarians with expertise in other subjects, browse the list of subject specialists.

Welcome to Shakespeare research!

Many of the resources included throughout this guide are web sites. Although these sites appear to be reputable, you should carefully evaluate for yourself any information from web sites that you use for research.

According to the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, this portrait of the poet William Shakespeare is the only known painting of the author done during his lifetime, believed to show him in 1610, at age 46, six years before he died.
