Biographical Snapshot

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (1994) and a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (1997). I have written and spoken often on issues relating to usage statistics and collection development & management. I serve (or served) on library advisories boards for a number of publishers, including Nature Publishing Group, New England Journal of Medicine, and Oxford University Press. I am also on the Executive Committee of COUNTER, an international organization developing standards for the collection and reporting of online information resource statistics. My doctoral research at UCLA focuses on information usage behaviors of academic researchers, especially usage of online journals and the changing nature of citation. When not thinking hard about issues facing libraries and developing new library services, I enjoy playing and watching most sports (baseball, football), gardening, and visiting with his family.
