GIS Services at the Library

ArcGIS at the library

The library has Esri ArcMap (Desktop) installed on computers in the atrium area, in the Digital Research Studio, and on laptops in the Digital Tool Shed. All of these locations are on the second floor of the library behind the services desk and are available to any Claremont Colleges-affiliated patrons. (Please be prepared to bring a removable storage device or access to cloud storage if you will need to save your work.)

Using ArcGIS on your own computer

The library can also grant ArcGIS Online (as well as ArcGIS Pro) licenses to Claremont Colleges-affiliated users. Please request an account through this form.

We also have a limited number of one-year student licenses for ArcMap Desktop for installation on a personal computer. **ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro only run on the Windows operating system. You can find out more information about the system requirements on the Esri site.

You may request a license key for a one-year student trial of ArcMap Desktop through the form linked above - be sure and specify in your request that you also need the desktop software.

Please review our ArcGIS Online expectations guide once you have gotten your license.

See the Installing ArcGIS page for more instructions.

Other campus labs

There are several other GIS labs at the Claremont Colleges that you may have access to depending on your college affiliation.

Your campus IT department will have the most up-to-date information about which tools are available to you.
