Logging in to the Library's Computer and WiFi Network: Connecting to "Claremont WPA"

Connecting to the "Claremont-WPA" Network Through Autoconnect

How to set up access on Claremont-WPA so that you do not have to log-in each time you connect to the network:

1. First click on the wireless icon that appears on your laptop. On PC, this icon is on the right side of the taskbar and looks like this: . On a Mac, this icon is located on the right side of the menu-bar and looks like this: . From the list of networks that appears, select the "Claremont WPA" network.


2. Once you have selected the "Claremont WPA" network, a dialogue box will open prompting you to enter your credentials. In the User Name field, enter the log-in ID assigned to you by your school (this is the same username you use to access SAKAI or Canvas) followed by @ and your school’s ID.

3. In the Password field, enter your password (it is the same one you use for SAKAI or Canvas).


4. Click on the Join button.

 

5. You should now be connected to the wireless network.


6. Access the autoconnect page, by typing autoconnect.claremont.edu into your browser’s URL field and pressing enter.


7. On the webpage that opens, titled “Welcome To The Claremont Colleges Wireless Network,” accept the license agreement by clicking on the box next to the statement, “I accept the terms of the End-User License Agreement,” and then click the Start button to proceed.


8. Once you accept the license agreement and click start, a screen appears prompting you to set up XpressConnect.
Note: Please read the instructions on this screen carefully. Certain web-browsers required special downloading instructions. The following screenshots show the process for downloading Xpress Connect on a Mac running OS X Yosemite.


9. A dialogue box will appear telling you the required format for entering your username and password to access the network. When prompted later, you will use the same username you use to access SAKAI or Canvas followed by @ and your school’s ID. After reading the information in the dialogue box, click OK.

 


10. On the page that loads, click network profile to install the network profile for Claremont WPA.

11. System Preferences will now open and ask you if you want to install "Claremont Colleges Wireless." Click Continue

12. XpressConnect will now ask you to enter your log-in username and password so that it can set up your wireless access. In the User Name field, enter the log-in ID assigned to you by your school (this is the same username you use to access SAKAI or Canvas) followed by @ and your school’s ID.

11. In the Password field, enter your password (it is the same one you use for SAKAI or Canvas) and click Continue.


12. XpressConnect will now enable access to Claremont-WPA. Verified should show up in System Preferences beside the network name.

13. You should now be connected to the wireless network.
