Trimble Juno GPS
The Trimble Juno GPS is available for checkout at the Honnold Library. Check out period is 1 week. However, depending on availability, you can email a request for extended time in the event you are traveling abroad or a faculty research project.
This session is a demonstration on using the GPS equipment provided by the libary for you to check out. Weather permitting, participants venture out to collect GPS data normally at the Bernard Field Station to then meet at the outside classroom to transfer the collected data from the GPS equipment and exported for use in ArcGIS using GPS data management software, industry-wide used Pathfinder Office (Trimble). Topics will include: The GPS System; data dictionary, collecting GPS Data in the field; transferring GPS Data to PO, and exporing to shapefile (ArcGIS). Further discussions include improving accuracy using differential correction and obtaining basemap data for display and enriching your data and finally a discussion on analytical tools for examining collected data.
Trimble® GPS Pathfinder® Office software is a powerful and easy-to-use software package to prepare, collect and postprocessing data collected including differential correction. Pathfinder office is used widely in industry. Software is not free. Software is installed, configured and ready for you to use in the library GIS lab.
