Digital Tool Shed: Software

The Digital Tool Shed is an incubator for innovative digital research, teaching, and learning – a space for exploration, practice, engagement, and experiential learning for individuals, groups, and classes.

Hardware and Software

7 laptops are available for use in the Digital Tool Shed, with all of the software listed below installed on them. The laptops cannot be taken out of the Digital Tool Shed.

Software by Type

The Library Digital Tool Shed has installed and configured the following GeoSpatial software.

  • The campus is Esri site licensed.  Esri ArcGIS is geographic information system and spatial analysis software (Windows based).  Students, faculty and staff have access to the following.  To use the following you need to request from the library an organizational account.  Simply email GISsupport@cuc.claremont.edu for your account.
    • ArcGIS Organization account (arcgis online, story maps, geocoding, online analysis and more).  Users are provided 40 credit limits to permit various online (and geocoding) services.
    • ArcGIS ArcMAP (Advanced license type) with extensions
    • ArcGIS Pro
    • Esri Online Courses
    • Esri International User Conference (July in San Diego free one day pass)
  • Google Earth Pro: Virtual globe, map, and geographical information program that maps the Earth by the superimposition of images obtained from satellite imagery, aerial photography, and geographical information system (GIS) onto a 3D globe.

  • Wolfram Mathematica: Symbolic mathematical computation program that supports integrated technical computing for a range of uses, including neural networks, machine learning, image processing, geometry, data science, visualizations, and more.
